Boating at Nakki Lake

A visit to the lake is incomplete without pedalling your way out in the lake on a boat. The verdant surrounding and the pristine water is a delight to watch on a peaceful slow boat ride.

After Nakki lake, Dilwara temple is the most famous destination that is visited by hordes of tourist every year. It is located amidst the verdant Aravalli hills, and it is a very holy and significant site for the Jains.  the Dilwara Temple is the most beautiful pilgrimage site for the Jains. Built by Vastupal Tejpal between 11th and 13th century, this temple is renowned for the opulent use of marble and intricate carvings on every hook and corner.

From the outside, it looks quite austere but, once you enter the inside, you will go head over heels with the stunning designs and patterns carved on roofs, walls, arches, and pillars. It is a set of five temples- Luna Vasahi, Vimal Vasahi, Parshvanatha, Pittalhar and Mahavir Swami Temple dedicated to Lord Rishabhdeo, Lord Adinath, Lord Mahavir Swami, Lord Neminath and Lord Parshvanath respectively.

Witness Wildlife at Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary

This Sanctuary covers about 290 sq. km of the hilly forest of Aravali mountains. The large variety of flora and fauna is mystifying and besides the extreme religious significance and reverence, Mount Abu can be a spot to encounter the wild. It is a paradise for wildlife photography enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and bird watchers.

Besides being a summer getaway and a sacred pilgrimage site, Mount Abu holds the highest Peak of the Aravalli ranges and that makes it an ideal place to spot the most exquisite animals. It is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna and is a paradise for animal and bird watchers.

Presence of (last recorded in 1872) and Tiger (last reported in 1970) is a history now, but leopards are still abundant here. Other animals found here are sloth bear, sambhar, jungle cat, small Indian civet, wolf, hyena, jackal, Indian fox, common langur, wild boar, pangolin, common mongoose, Indian hare, porcupine, and hedgehog.

There are among 250 species of birds which are found here including the rare grey jungle fowl.

Hike To Highest Peak Of Aravalli - Guru Shikhar

The highest peak of the Aravali is a much fascinating sight than any other place in Mount Abu. Around 15 kilometres from Mount Abu, a small trek leads to a phenomenal elevation of 1722 m above the sea level, which is the highest peak of Aravali. Fondly known as Guru Shikhar which was named after Guru Dattatreya.

Guru Dattatreya is the most significant temple on the route while there are several other temples too. There are steps for easy climbing and once you have covered 35 steps, you will find the first base settlement where refreshment stalls are found. With a mesmerizing view from the top, you also come across a huge bell, which when rung can be heard in the entire Aravali.

Explore Achalgarh Fort

Achalgarh fort is situated at a distance of 11 km from Mount Abu and is visited while touring the Achalgarh village and Achleshwar temple. It was built under the reign of Paramara dynasty and was
renovated by Maharana Kumbha in 1452 CE. The main purpose of the fort was to keep an eye on the movements of any intruder or enemy.

The fort sits atop a peak which needs to you climb. The Achleshwar Mahadev temple nearby is a Shiv Temple which is famous for a sculptured image of Nandi, who was the bull of Lord Shiva. The sculptured Nandi is said to be made of five metals which are gold, copper, bronze, silver, and brass.

Within the complex of the fort lies the beautiful Mandakini lake which serves as the best backdrop for clicking pictures.

It is situated approximately 5 km from the Nakki Lake on the Guru Shikhar road and also from the main city and 2 km away from Dilwara temple. The name was coined after the British engineer who constructed it. Trevor’s Tank is a delight for nature seekers, crocodile lovers, and bird watchers; All and all, visiting Trevor’s tank is one the best things to do in Mount Abu that you really should not miss.
