Darjeeling Himalayan Railway

One of the most popular places to visit in Darjeeling, DHR is approximately a 2 feet narrow gauge train track that covers the distance between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. This 88-km long railway track is best known for its toy train which gushes amid the misty hill side and offers absolutely gorgeous views of the valley.

The construction of this historic railways began in 1879 and took about two years for it to be finished. For its significance as a popular tourist spot, it was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. Tiger Hill

Batasia Loop

Darjeeling Rangit Valley Ropeway

The beautiful hill station of Darjeeling is best viewed via its exclusive ropeway. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park

Peace Pagoda

It is a Buddhist shrine which is a part of 30 similar structures located around the world. This white-coloured edifice is accentuated with gold painted sculptures, which are the highlight of the entire Pagoda. There are four avatars of Buddha located inside the building, including the famous Maitreya Buddha.

This historic building was constructed between 1885 and 1985 by a Japanese Buddhist monk Nichidatsu Fuji and it continues to be one of the most famous places to visit in Darjeeling. It took about 36 months to finish the construction of the whole building.

Ghum Monastery

Elevated at a height of approximately 8,000 feet Ghoom Monastery is one of the top places to see in Darjeeling. Also known as Yiga Choeling, it was established in 1850 by Lama Sherab Gyatso and is known to be the oldest Tibet Monastery of Darjeeling.

Happy Valley Tea Estate

Tenzing Rock

It is a large natural rock named after Tenzing Norgay, the first man to climb Mt. Everest along with Edmund Hillary in 1953. The place also serves as the training area for both amateurs and professional climbers.

Bhutia Busty Monastery

Earlier located in the Observatory Hill, this Monastery is currently situated in the Bhutia Colony. The Monastery was built in 1761 by the Lama Dorje Rinzing, however, in 1815, the place was plundered and rebuilt in 1861.

It was relocated in 1879 to the Colony and again destroyed by the earthquake, which led to its renovation in 1934. For this reason, it is considered to be quite a favorite spot for tourists, and its rich history attracts a lot of them.

The Monastery is structured in a traditional Tibetan style with a touch of Sikkim culture, and it belongs to the Red Sect of Buddhists. This place also exhibits murals that depict the story of Buddha. Even though the walls tell a lot of stories related to Buddhism, photography is strictly prohibited inside the premises of the building.

Ajit Khan Dzongri Goechala Trek in Sikkim

Dzongri Goechala Trek in Sikkim is one of the best treks in the town. It had been a great trek. I had a lovely time there. It was awesome. I loved it totally. One should definitely try this to know how it had been. It was definitely a nice and fun trek.
